Endless Summer Hydrangea Planting Directions
Endless Summer Hydrangea... Worth the Hype?

“One of the most important new plant
introductions of the last 50 years.”
Michael Dirr – Horticultural Rock Star.

Yes  the Endless Summer has its own web site, it’s own ads and seems to have more blog posts than Global Warming… but does it live up to the hype?

Here are some common claims and what you can actually expect:

Claim #1 – Endless Summer Gives You 6 Months of Continual Blooms!

Endless Summer blooms from early summer to the first frost. Milder climates should see pretty consistent blooms until around Thanksgiving, except for a brief week or two in August when they may get a little sparse.  Northerners will see full blooms for 3-4 months.

Most other hydrangeas only bloom early for a few weeks, then their done… thus the name “Endless Summer”.

Claim #2 – The Only Hydrangea That Will Still Bloom if Hit by a Late Spring Frost!

Newer varieties are becoming Frost Proof. Endless Summer was the first and is the highest quality frost proof hydrangea. Some gardeners have commented on reduced flowering after freak cold snaps, but we’ve never seen any reduction.

Claim #3 – Revolutionized Northern Shade Gardening while still thriving in the South!

Endless Summer grows in shady spots in Northern zone 4, as well as full sun. In the deep south you should avoid long exposure to the afternoon sun.

They love moist soil and wilt in the afternoon if they get too dry. Otherwise, they are very tolerant to both extreme heat and extreme cold.

Claim #4 – You get Armloads of Flowers the Size of Your Head!

I have seen the 5 ft. tall branches dressed up as people during Halloween. After the first year the blooms are about 8-10” in diameter.

They do make long lasting indoor floral arrangements. Plus the plant puts out even more flowers after you cut them back.

Claim #5 – You can Change Your Bloom Colors!

You can show off your Gardening Ju Jitsu by changing the acidity of your soil.

Blue flowers appear in acidic soil, bright pink ones in alkaline. It’s actually a neat way to test your dirt.

Of all our Hydrangeas, the Endless Summer is by far the best seller.

It’s also extremely rare that one needs to be replaced under our guarantee. They thrive almost everywhere and seldom have any problems.

You should avoid any size less than one gallon. We don’t offer them because you won’t get blooms for the first year.

Our oversized one gallons are grown a year longer and will give you many blooms. Our three gallons are grown two years longer and have a shrub form that will quickly blanket with blooms and give you a tall, full hedge.

You can plant them alone or in rows. In containers or along your foundation. They’re very versatile.

Go ahead and order today while large sizes are still available.

Endless summer....3 year old plants are blooming great in2009. In Michigan, zone 5,we've had a medium wet spring and summer. I just love this plant and would highly recommend it for even the beginner gardener. Make sure to plant it in the right spot and don't be afraid to move it if it needs a better location. I have just moved a 3year old plant and it is doing great. Our summer has been cool so I credit the temp. for most of my success.Move it early in the season if you need to.A very exciting plant!!!!

I have grown Endless Summer Hydrangeas for 5 years. I grow them in containers and then put them in a storage building in the winter. The older the plants get the more blooms I have and the longer they bloom thru the summer. I had a plant with 3 blooms starting to develop in November. I stored them and the blooms did not die. They stayed green and came out and I had them blooming in late February and early March. I have between 40 to 60 blooms on each plant in the spring. I am known as The Hydrangea Lady in this part of Dallas. You should see my plants, they are beautiful. So easy to grow. I love them!!!!!!!

Both Endless Summer Hydrangeas are doing well and bloomed lightly. I'm hoping they do well next year!

This is my 4th year for my Endless Summer Hydrangea. I was excited to see a variety of colors this year and huge mopheads! The blooms have been plentiful this year & have been bright blue, deep pink, pale pink, pale blue, a mixture of pink & pale green. I don't use anything to change the colors I just let our soil do it's own thing and the results this year have been spectacular! You do need to water it during hot dry spells but this plant is worth the effort!

My endless summer hydrangea is growing nicely. I am in Arizona so I have kept all 3 in partial shade.

i purchased three endless summer hydrangea this year and am very excited that they will bloom all summer since most flowers are finished around august. well this year my hydrangea are still blooming so i am happy and hope to have many more years of blooms...

Just starting out!
I received the Endless Summer Hydrangeas this summer. Despite an early "deer attack" the plants are thriving beautifully. I used a little Liquid Fence and the deer have completely avoided these beauties. It's early October and the plants are still blooming in pinks, blues and purples. I could not be happier.

We've been thrilled with our Endless Summer Hydrangia --- put it in a sunny spot in zone 7, are careful to water when there hasn't been rain (they are water hogs), and have been rewarded with blooms of every color from the time we put it in the ground in late spring until now.

I have two Endless Summer Hydrangeas. I have them in pots on my deck. Although the leaves are disappearing, they are still blooming and it's almost December!

Love2Garden
My three Endless Summer Hydrangeas, planted in '08, have performed well from the start. It's May 3 and they will soon be full of gorgeous blooms of varied color! They are in a mostly shade garden in northern VA with hostas and other shade lovers. They are gorgeous plants!

This is my first year of having a yard to play in. I talked to my local Garden Centre and they recommeded the Endless Hydangeas. Gorgeous...plant, easy to care for, love them to death, had many many compliments and will be planting many more. We live in Northern Saskatchewan Canada.

Hydrangeas are a memory from my childhood. I don't know if my granny had "Endless Summer" type hydrangeas but I do remember a huge bush next to the front steps. So many people have obtained cuttings from it and started a bush in their own gardens. Most of my family have a bush that started from granny's original bush, which she started from her mother's plant. Granny's hydrangea was white unless she would change the color. What is so funny to me is that all the "cuttings" from this plant are not white as hers was. They are mostly blues. When mine bloomed, it was a lovely shade of Lilac! I love this plant.

I love these Endless Summer Hydrangeas. I have 6 of them. We moved 4 of them and they are doing well and we do not have a green thumb so i would say they are pretty easy and yes they are water hogs.
