Pink Blooms with Vibrant Fall Foliage!
The 'Goldflame' Spirea (also known as the Japanese Spirea), is a deciduous shrub that works perfectly for bordering paths and walkways.
This variety of Spirea produces pink flower clusters from late spring to mid-summer. Enjoy the changing colors of the Goldflame's foliage throughout the seasons. From spring to fall, the leaves change from red-bronze to yellow-green and finally, to orange-copper.
The Goldflame Spirea prefers growing zones 4-8 and well-drained soil. While it thrives in full sun, this shrub will also do well in partial shade. At maturity, it will reach heights and widths of 3-4 ft.
This plant is so easy to maintain, you can basically plant it and forget it! It is heat, insect and disease tolerant. Keep your butterfly identification chart close by- the pink flowers will surely lure them in.
Do you have an area in your yard that could use some color? Plant several Goldflames in a row to make an informal hedge or border for a perennial garden. It also works well beside foundation plantings.
