Achieve Effortless Style With This Showy Ground Cover
Known by a number of names, the most common being Monkey Grass or Lily Turf, the Green Liriope is a rough and tumble ground cover. Deep green, grass like, strap-shaped leaves are produced in tufts and are quite showy. Spikes of violet to mauve bell-shaped flowers that resemble grape hyacinth appear in late summer.
These plants are also great for edging and a low accent for borders. Try it under trees in heavily shaded areas. The Liriope doesn't mind competition from tree roots. This plant is great for low lying problem spots: just watch them disappear!
A hardy and dependable perennial, the Green Liriope is happy in sun or shade, helps to combat erosion and is tolerant to drought, heavy shade and humidity.
