Itea Henry's Garnet Sweetspire
Magnificent Color with Each Season
Henry's Garnet is a deciduous shrub that spreads anywhere from 5-6 ft. With a woodsy fragrance and drooping, warm white blooms you will have no problem attracting birds and butterflies.
This showy plant holds its dark green oval leaves well into fall, when deep red to garnet to maroon colors then emerge.
It prefers moist soil but once naturalized, it can tolerate a range of conditions including clay soil, wet soil, and dense shade. This makes it a good choice for slopes or anywhere erosion control is needed.
Plant it in wild locations, low spots, pond and stream edges, as well as borders.
