Kleim's Hardy Gardenia
Finally... the most Cold-Hardy Gardenia
A dwarf version of the larger Gardenia, Kleim's Hardy Gardenias are beautiful inside and outside the home. Easy to care for, they are excellent for novice and experienced gardeners alike.
These plants only grow 2-3 feet tall, so they fit perfectly anywhere in your landscape... even tight corners. It even stands up to tough winters, living up to its name. If your winters give your gardenias problems, this is the plant for you. It really lives up to its name.
Pairs Well With Other Fragrant Shrubs
Kleim's Hardy Gardenia is not only pretty to look at, it's fragrant as well. It makes an excellent companion to other fragrant blooms including lavender, sage or Jasmine.
Decorative and Fragrant
Cut a few flowers to decorate and scent your home, or even use them in wedding bouquets for a touch of elegance. They should not be pruned until after flowering, otherwise you may cut off flower buds and reduce the amount of blooms.
Best Planting Methods
Though they are dwarf in size, Kleim's Hardy Gardenias make an excellent foundation plant and flourish just as well in containers or in raised beds where they have access to at least partial sun. They can bear the heat of full sun, but some protection is best unless you plan to water them on a regular basis.
Beautiful Year Round
They come alive in spring and summer, blooming until the fall months with adequate sunlight. They still bloom in shade, but with fewer flowers. However, as they are an evergreen plant, the foliage- which is thick and green- is gorgeous throughout the year. Yearly fertilization helps keep the leaves a rich green color.
Kleim's Hardy Gardenias grow in small round shrubs reaching heights of 2-3 feet and are so versatile; they really look great no matter where you put them.
