The Needle Palm is a good choice just about anywhere in the US.

This easy keeper isn’t prone to bug issues.
For homeowners who live in the wet winter areas of the North, it is a good idea to treat the crown with fungicide to help your palm deal with the climate better. This cold hardy palm prefers moist soil that drains, yet has excellent drought tolerance once it is established. For best drought tolerance, Needle Palms should be planted in part shade.

I purchased the needle palm tree this year '09. Such a beautiful palm. Looks great and it is doing very well up here in North Georgia. We have very cold temperatures in Winter and most of the time see Snow every Winter. I would recommend this Palm to anyone in this area or North Carolina. I am going to put leaves or pine straw around the truck of it this Winter so it will stay warmer. Also I planted it next to the front steps of my house, where the cold winter winds will not hit it very much.
I love Palm Trees but do not want to live in Florida or on the Coast.
