Plant Purple Wisteria in your backyard and you'll smell it from the front of your house.

It's fragrance is kind of like a Lavender / Gardenia blend. It just puts you in a good mood. Open your windows on a breezy day and let it fill your home.

Big 6-12 inch purple flower clusters brighten up your landscape. Somehow in the spring, these small vines produce these giant floral recimes.

Purple Wisteria is much more versatile than most vines, they can:

Transform an old fence into something beautiful.
Turn a plain tree into a classic flowering specimen.
Create an elegant trellis like you see throughout the Biltmore House & other regal estates.

Purple Wisteria grows as tall as it's host, typically up to a maximum of 30 feet. If planting along a fence, space every 4-5 feet.

This is a very forgiving plant. It grows in a wide range of soils, even alkali, sand and clay. Tolerates drought and salt. Flowers best in full sun, but can grow in partial shade in the south.

Beware that not all Purple Wisteria is the same. If you buy a small plant, it could take 2-3 years before it blooms.

We don't offer Wisteria in small containers or bare-root, like many nurseries. Instead you get a well developed, 2 gallon plant that will bloom sooner rather than later.

Plant several for a fragrance you'll smell from a distance.

Wisteria grows like nothing I have ever seen before. I put two plants that were around 3 feet tall on both sides of the trellis I built. The trellis is 8 feet tall and both plants have already covered the entire thing from top to bottom weaving in and out of the lattice. These plants were put into soil that wont even grow fescue. wisteria is amazing, I strongly recommend this plant for anyone who likes flowering vines.

Ordered 2 Purple Wisteria Vines in the worst time to plant, planted one in sun and one in partial shade, kept them watered, both are doing great. I will never again bother with bare root garbage after being able to order gallon growth.

I received my 2 purple wisteria vines at the beginning of April. I'm a novice gardener and I'd never grown wisteria before and I was worried when I received what looked like a couple of sticks in a pot. I went ahead and planted them and they IMMEDIATELY began growing. Now, it's the beginning of October and they have climbed all the way up (and around and through) my weaving 6 ft. fence. We recently moved and I finally have a place to grow a wisteria vine! In my excitement, I ordered one from Brighter Blooms because I knew that wisteria will take several years to flower, and I didn't want to waste another year. The plant that arrived was much bigger than I expected, and has been growing happily in a large planter, awaiting the trellis we will build for it next year. And boy, has it grown! I'm very happy with my purchase, and will buy from Brighter Blooms again.

This wisteria is a wonderful addition! I am not with a green thumb and was afraid to even buy online but...it was 2-4 ft. and it was well worth it! I can literally almost watch it grow every day! I am in a zone 6 with clay soil, it grows anyway! I Will definitely be back again and again! Do not hesitate to purchase from them, everything is well packed and secure when you get it!

I received my 2 Wisteria Vines a week ago. Have not planted them yet because of the frost we are having still. But one came in really nice the other I was having my doubts. I trimmed the one half dead and broken branch, kept watering it, and it is coming back to life. It is really doing great in the pot, cant wait to plant them!!!

I bought 2 Wisterias in 2009 and they were very healthy when I received them. This year 2010 my husband came in the house and ask what were the beautiful purple flowering trees in the yard. I have never heard him rave over a plant or tree like this. I had to go out and see the trees for myself and they are gorgeous and full of huge purple blooms. I always wanted the tree, and I am so happy I bought them and will be purchasing 4 of them for a beautiful backdrop behind my pool. It is a beautiful tree with and without blooms.
