An Abundance of Berries on this Christmas Favorite
Abundant red
berries from autumn through most of winter
Cuttings can
last for months indoors in a water-free vase
Winter Red holly is a
deciduous plant that provides beauty all year long. A large, upright, rounded
shrub, the deeply green leaves turn bronze then yellow before dropping in the
fall.
The berries begin to cluster in late summer and last all winter long. They gradually become more palatable to birds after many freezes and thaws,
and your garden will feed birds in winter to early spring.
This beauty is easy to grow
and more shade tolerant than other holly varieties. Don’t forget how large this
slow-growing shrub can become!
It works well in a mixed evergreen and deciduous
hedge or border, in a long entryway, or even as a specimen plant in a prominent
position.
Make use of the many
aesthetic effects this plant offers...both indoors and out!
