Product Description

Abundantly Flowering, Compact Redbud

This beautiful and compact tree is the perfect addition to any space, no matter the size.  The Garden Gems™ Emerald Redbud has a compact habit that makes it ideal for thriving in small spaces, or in mass plantings in larger landscapes. It’s a glorious focal point in any landscape, and adds a bright pop of color wherever it’s planted.

The Garden Gems™ Emerald Redbud tree will charm and delight you with its ever changing color and unique foliage. This Redbud Tree flowers abundantly in the early spring with vivid pink blooms. These blooms form into tight clusters that resemble cotton candy.

Not only do the flowers add to the beauty of The Garden Gems™ Emerald Redbud, the heart-shaped foliage is ever-changing. As new foliage grows, it’s marked with hues of red that eventually mature into a luscious green.

And beauty isn’t the only perk this tree brings. It’s strong and requires little maintenance, with sturdy branch unions that can stand up to what mother nature has to offer. With minimal pest occurrences and trimming only in the later winter as needed, the Garden Gems™ Emerald Redbud is both beautiful and low-maintenance.

With vibrant pink blooms, low maintenance, and a compact growth habit, The Garden Gems™ Emerald Redbud is perfect for bringing life to your landscape - even if it’s small. Add one to your yard today!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Select an area with well-drained soil and full sun to partial sun (4 to 6 hours of direct sunlight with some afternoon shade).

Dig a hole twice as wide as the diameter and as deep as your tree’s root ball. Place your tree, backfill the soil, and water to settle the tree’s roots. Finally, spread 3 to 4 inches of mulch over the planting site to conserve moisture.

2. Watering: During the first year, water your tree about once or twice weekly. If you’re not sure when to water, check the surrounding soil to about 3 inches down. If the soil is dry here, it’s time to water your tree.

After the first year, your Redbud can thrive on rainfall alone, but we recommend that you continue to check the soil. Soil should remain moist about 3 inches down.

3. Fertilizing: In early spring, apply compost or a complete fertilizer, such as 5-10-5. Spread evenly around the root zone of the plant according to the label instructions.

4. Pruning: Prune the tree in early summer after the tree is done blooming. Remove any larger lower branches and branches that cross over each other or rub together.
