Product Description

The World's Largest Blackberry!

The Kiowa Blackberry is the world’s largest Blackberry fruit - just ten of these large, luscious Blackberries can fill up a half-pint container. And size isn't this Blackberry's only benefit - they also have the best-quality flavor and flesh of any variety.

The Kiowa Blackberry produces an abundance of deliciously sweet, tart fruit in the summer. You can handpick these massive berries from your garden and enjoy them year-round in jams, jellies, desserts, and more. Kiowa Blackberries preserve well in the freezer, so you can have fresh fruit for longer.

These plump Kiowa Blackberries can fruit for up to six weeks during the summer season, for up to 7-10 pounds of fruit each year. Berries will begin to ripen in early May, and by June you'll be able to enjoy fresh-picked Blackberries from your own garden!

You’ll know your Kiowa Blackberries are ripe when they turn a deep, blackish purple. For the sweetest flavor, don't pick them too early - they'll be worth the wait once they are ripe!

The best thing about these tasty berries? They're easy-to-grow and low-maintenance. Just pick a location that gets a lot of sunlight, and your Kiowa Blackberry will be good to go! It's also highly disease and pest-resistant - not to mention self-pollinating.

Are you ready to enjoy enormous, fresh-picked blackberries all summer long and delicious treats throughout the year? Order your Kiowa Blackberry Bush today!

Planting & Care:

Planting Instructions: Choose a planting site that offers full sun. The Kiowa Blackberry grows best in sandy loam, with a soil pH of 6.0 to 7.0. It cannot tolerate a soil pH above 8.0. Utilize sulfur to lower the acidity of the soil if it’s overly acidic.

Dig a hole that is twice the size of the bush’s root system and just as deep. Mix ample humus into the soil and around the planting hole if the soil is in need of repair. Place the bush into the hole and spread out its roots across the soil’s surface. Backfill the hole with the soil mixture. Press the soil down firmly around the bush’s roots to remove any air pockets.

Apply a three-inch layer of mulch beneath the shrub to keep the soil moist and discourage unwanted weed growth. After planting, water the Kiowa Blackberry thoroughly to remove any air pockets in the soil and encourage root growth.

Watering: The Kiowa Blackberry must have regular irrigation to produce a crop of blackberries. It does not tolerate drought well. Begin irrigation in March and continue watering the shrub regularly through September. Keep the soil around the plant moist but not overly wet. During excessive heat or drought, you may need to water 3+ times a week.

Fertilization: Fertilize the Kiowa Blackberry with a complete fertilizer such as 10-10-10 in the spring and again after the berry harvest is complete. Follow the instructions on the fertilizer's label for application ratios.

Pruning: After berry production, prune the canes that produced berries down to the ground. The Kiowa Blackberry bush will only produce berries on two-year-old canes. Once the cane bears berries and the fruiting season is over, it should be pruned down.

Kiowa Blackberry Bushs are self-fertile. You will get fruit with only one plant. However, adding an additional Kiowa Blackberry Bush will drastically increase the size of your crop.
