Product Description

A Compact Magnolia with Saucer Blooms

This prolific blooming magnolia tree is ideal for gardeners who want an adaptable, colorful flowering tree. The Saucer Magnolia is a cross between a magnolia shrub and the Magnolia denudata (the Lily Tree), creating a robust, multi-stemmed plant.

With small, low branched limbs, the Saucer Magnolia can be shaped into a shrub or allowed to grow larger into tree form. Also known as the Chinese Magnolia, this versatile tree is also adaptable in different types of soil, including clay. With its low maintenance and fast growth, it will become any gardener’s favorite.

The name “saucer” comes from the magnificent blooms of the Saucer Magnolia. These pinkish-white flowers have the appearance of a 5-10 inch saucer. The blossoms will appear in early spring before the leaves appear.

In April, the dark green foliage will grow in as a backdrop to the colorful blooms. The Saucer Magnolia will continue to flower until late fall. Then, the leaves will drop away to reveal shimmering, silver bark for all season beauty.

Wildlife takes a keen interest in the Saucer Magnolia. Birds love to eat its seeds and use it to nest, and its fragrant blooms will draw in hoards of friendly pollinators.

Order your Saucer Magnolia today so you can enjoy this adaptable, heavy-blooming tree. Get yours before they’re all gone!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: Plant your Saucer Magnolia in full sun and rich, well-draining soil. Although this tree can tolerate clay soil, it will do best in acidic, organically rich soil. Dig a hole that is 2-3 times the width and the same depth of the root ball (or container it is shipped in). Remove the plant from the container and place in the hole. Backfill the dirt, being careful not to pack the dirt in too tightly.

2. Watering: Water immediately after planting and continue to water frequently (2-3 times a week) until well established, approximately 6 months after placement.
