There’s nothing quite like the quintessential colors of fall, and lucky for you, this kit delivers just that! Complete with 4 different shrubs and trees that explode with autumn hues, the Warm-Climate Fall Color Kit ensures your landscape will never be colorless again.
This kit comes with 11 total plants:

- (2) 5-6 ft. Chinese Pistache Trees
- (3) 3-gallon Ruby Loropetalums
- (3) 3-gallon Fire Power Nandinas
The Burning Bush is a sure-fire way to add carefree color to your landscape. Its scarlet red leaves in fall, blue-green leaves in summer, drought tolerance and adaptability mean your landscape will benefit from it year-round. Plus, its pleasing size of 4-8 ft. tall and wide makes it ideal for planting in rows and groupings.
The Chinese Pistache provides an unmatched, thick, rounded canopy that wows with reds, oranges and yellows when other trees are entering dormancy. And its tolerance for pollution, smog, drought and heat make it a hardy and versatile option.
For a punch of purple, the Ruby Loropetalum takes your landscape to the next level. Its ruby red leaves turn deep purple in fall for a spectacular color show made for adding texture and interest to walkways, containers, patios and borders.
And we can’t forget about the Fire Power Nandina, which completes this kit. Presenting the richest reds and greens, this favorite grows strong and steady with disease resistance. It’s sure to light up your garden beds, borders and containers, no matter the season.
If you’re after fall color and impressive growth, perfect for milder regions, the Warm-Climate Fall Color Kit is the best solution. Grow 4 fall favorites in one easy pack!
Planting & Care
1. Planting:
- Burning Bush: Plant your Burning Bush in an area that receives full to partial sunlight (4 to 6 hours of sunlight per day on average). Although your Bushing Bush prefers full sunlight, it will tolerate shade. Burning bushes prefer acidic soil but will adapt to your natural soil even if it's sandy or heavy in clay as long as it's well-draining. Dig a hole that's large enough to accommodate your Burning Bush's root ball, place your shrub, and backfill the soil. Finally, mulch the surrounding soil and water.
- Chinese Pistache: Your Pistache will benefit best from a location that receives full sun and well-draining soil. Make your hole 4 to 5 times as wide as the root ball. Be sure to center your tree and begin to backfill the hole, tamping the soil down as you fill to prevent air pockets from forming. Water thoroughly and spread 2 to 3 inches of mulch around the base of the tree.
- Ruby Loropetalum: You can plant the Ruby Loropetalum any time of the year in an area with full or partial sun. It prefers moist, acidic and well-drained soil. Dig a hole twice as wide as your Loropetalum's shipped container, and equally as deep. Place your Loropetalum in the hole, and backfill with soil, tamping down to remove air pockets. Water well after planting.
- Fire Power Nandina: Plant your Fire Power Nandina in an area that receives full to partial sunlight. This should be any area that receives about 4 to 6 hours of sunlight daily, with well-drained soil.
2. Watering:
- Burning Bush: Let your surrounding soil dry to the touch down to about 2 inches. Once your soil is dry in this area, give your Burning Bush a deep watering at the base.
- Chinese Pistache: For the first month, be sure to water your Pistache twice weekly. The best way to ensure that you’re watering deeply enough is to place your garden hose next to the base of the tree on a trickle.
- Ruby Loropetalum: Water your Loropetalum thoroughly after planting, and keep watering your bush once or twice a week until it establishes. Be sure to mulch the roots if you live in an area with extreme temperatures.
- Fire Power Nandina: Let your soil dry down to about 2 inches in between waterings. Once this area is dry, water your Fire Power Nandina.
3. Pruning:
- Burning Bush: Prune your Burning Bush in late winter/early spring to maintain desired shape or to remove unhealthy or crossed branches.
- Chinese Pistache: Prune the top of the tree when it reaches six feet tall between Jan-Feb—this will force more branches to develop. As branches emerge, select one as the tree’s trunk, the other as a branch, and remove the rest. The trunks should be left to grow another three feet and then pruned to a couple of feet above your original cut, which in turn will encourage more branches. Repeat this process until you get a well-spaced, symmetrical look.
- Ruby Loropetalum: No pruning is needed, but the Loropetalum can tolerate heavy pruning if you want to shape it, remove dead branches, or conform with your landscape setting. Pruning is best done after the flowering season - avoid pruning in early spring or winter.
- Fire Power Nandina: You may prune your Nandina lightly for a neater, tidier appearance in late winter/early spring.
4. Fertilizing:
- Burning Bush: Fertilize your Burning Bush at the beginning of every spring and in the middle of summer with an acidic fertilizer.
- Chinese Pistache: For trees that are five years (or younger), fertilizer should be introduced during the spring and fall seasons. Use a nitrogen-based formula with superphosphate if the tree has not grown at least 2 to 3 feet annually. Be sure to follow the application instructions provided on the packaging.
- Ruby Loropetalum: Fertilize your Loropetalum with a slow-release, balanced fertilizer in spring to ensure healthy growth.
- Fire Power Nandina: Fertilize your Nandina at the beginning of every spring and in the middle of summer with an acidic fertilizer.
