A friend of mine cherished the visits from his grandchildren, but worried that the younger ones would eventually forget about their time together.
He wanted to create memories that would outlive him. He's a big believer that smells make a stronger impact than sights or sounds.
So he started looking for a flowering shrub that would give a unique fragrance that would be associated with his home only. The Fragrant Tea Olive became his answer.
Osmanthus Fragrans, better known as the Fragrant Tea Olive, produces small white blooms that pack a punch. Some describe it as a rose scent, others as gardenia and still others as jasmine.
These unusually scented flowers come on in late winter, signaling the beginning of spring, then bloom sporadically during the summer. For an encore, the Fragrant Tea Olive puts on a show again in the fall.
This isn't a flower you have to bury your nose in to smell. Some customers have said they can smell a row of Tea Olives from up to 100 feet away!
Plant them near your entryway, windows or patio. On breezy days let the refreshing fragrance fill your home.
Cut off a few branches for your kitchen, car and office.
This strong scent attracts the usual summertime characters of humming birds and butterflies.
Where other fragrant plants only offer 1 month of aroma, the Fragrant Tea Olive blooms for 4 months and leaves an amazing fragrance that fills your yard.
Plant your Fragrant Tea Olive in rows 4-5 feet apart to create a lush, thick privacy hedge. Other planting options include near foundations, specimen plantings within flower beds or in natural areas.
Adapts to any soil and thrives on neglect. Plant several for even greater fragrance.
These will quickly become your favorite plants.
Tea Olives are long-lived, but grow slowly. This is why we send out larger sizes. This way you don't have to wait a year or more before you can start enjoying them.
Order the 3 gallons and fill your yard with this wonderful aroma starting this year.
I purchased 3 of the fragrent tea olive and my husband followed the directions to plant them. They have been in the ground less than 3 days and one already has a blossom on it! I can hardly wait for them to get taller and lots of fragrance. I bought the 3 gallon ones and they are about 2 1/2 feet tall and the healthiest plants I have ever seen. Buy from this company, you will be pleased.

I love the Fragrant Tea Olive, love the sweet fragrance. The 3 trees from Brighter Blooms are healthy and keep growing in my garden now. Can't wait to see & smell the flowers when they bloom.

In my backyard there was a Sweet Olive bush. From my earliest memory fragrance lingers in my mind. I would go out and talk to it and wrap it in sheets when the frost would come. It now serves as a final resting place for a prized feline companion, Goldfinger, who would crouch down under it when the grass went brown and he could be camoflaged, and would pounce on your feet. Since losing that house to fire, I have planted two in my new back yard and am waiting for them to mature enough to perfume the neighborhood. The fragrance is truly intoxicating.

Tea Olive (Osmanthus Fragrans) is a common outdoor tree/shrub here in China. They are in bloom now and nearly every place I walk in my housing complex and throughout the city (Chengdu) I can enjoy the wonder fragrance. In addition to the more common white flowers, there are orange and yellow ones.

We have 2 Tea Olive Plants, one at each side of the garage . We really love the fragrance that fills the air around and in the garage from these bushes. They are hardy and are worth every cent.

We have an old house with the largest Fragrant Tea Olive in our county, as we understand from the County Extension Agent. No joke, you can smell it from more than a hundred feet around! Not sure of its age - the house is about 125 years old. We love the fragrance, and it's more like a hundred YARDS!

I love this Tea Olive plant!! I purchased two of these plants and both were healthy beautiful plants when they arrived. I planted them in the spring and waited for them to grow. They are a slow grower but one day in late July I saw a beautiful, fragant white flower on each!! I can't wait for next season. These are the best plants I have ever purchased through a mail order!!

I bought a Fragrant Tea Olive after seeing/smelling one at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. This delightful tree has dainty white flowers and a lovely fragrance which is perfect for masking the "smell of dog" in our dining room. Nature's air freshener.
Debbie
I love the two fragrant tea olives that I purchased. They are growing incredibly fast.

My Fragrant Tea Olive is doing very good which is good news as it is hard to get new plants established in MS.

My Fragrant Tea Olive bushes that I ordered from you are doing good. They did not bloom this year but have grown to about 2 ft and look very healthy. They were the gallon size. They are a little spendly but I thought I would trim them next Spring. We are very happy with them so far.

My Tea Olives are doing well. A mix up in my order was resolved in a good manner and I'm very happy with my plants. They are thriving, in fact, I think I'll get some more.

I can remember as a child this wonderful fragrance coming from our neighbor's yard. I could smell that wonderful fragrance and I sniffed my way among all the plants until I found the Fragrant Tea Olive! Over the years, I've not had much success with the smaller (1-gal) plants, but a few years ago I bought a larger plant (5-gal) and it is doing great even during drought years.

I bought a 3 gal. Tea Olive plant this spring and planted it in a suitable place in the front yard. It is thriving very well and has already grown about 6".

Fragrant Tea Olive came in good shape. Planted in large pot on patio about 3 weeks ago and the tea olive is doing fine. growth about 1.5 inch and smells great. I need to order another i like it so much but don't have room.
Cindy
I just recieved my Tea Olive one gallon, and on the very bottom of the plant which was quite tall for a one gallon plant, there were tiny YELLOW flowers. Yellow is my favorite color, so this is great. I have ordered another one--curious what color this one will produce.

I walked up a friends drive yesterday and something smelled wonderful. Did not know till got ready to leave and mentioned it to home owner, said it was the Tea Olive Shrub. Home owner broke a small branch off and I brought it home and put in kitchen window in glass of water, Kitchen smells wonderful and beginning to smell in the next room. I am going to order one and can't wait to have one in my yard.
Michelle
The Fragrant Tea Olive shrubs I ordered came quickly after I purchased them. They arrived in a very healthy state and i was able to plant them in my backyard along the fence line that gets the most morning sun. They are doing wonderful and have doubled in size in the last few months. I chose them because they are a hardy shrub that can withstand the conditions of the Georgia heat and clay loaded soil. I made sure I mixed a fair amount of compost in the soil to help loosen it up prior to planting. I look forward to next year and expect them to double in size!

My plants have been great, no complaints, these are folks that I trust for my planting needs and wants.

Bought three three 3-gal Osmanthus from Brighter Blooms back in February of 2011, I was really impressed by their professional dealing of the order and the shipment. Plants were carefully wrapped with pots and soil, and packed well in a solid cardboard box. I ordered from another grower in NC as well, but they shipped the plants with bare roots – no soil at all, just to avoid paying the shipping weight, I guess! Bad practice! My Osmanthus are growing very well now, and I expect to see/smell the fragrant flowers pretty soon. Thank you, guys! I definitely will shop with you again.
Loretta
I have many tea olive shrubs in my yard. The aroma fills my yard several times a year.

I recently recommended a Tea Olive to one of my clients. I planted 3 in her back yard, around her brand new wooden deck, and as my client puts it... "There's nothing better than sittin' on a deck, drinkin' an ice cold glass of sweet tea, and breathing in that oh so sweet and refreshing aroma of those tea olives!"
Meredydd in Florida
I love tea olives - absolutely intoxicating aroma.

We bought 5 these trees in spring 2010, all one gallon. The first month we kept them indoor, the whole house had very good smell, especially in the evening. Then we moved them outdoor to our garden. We found some animals love them too, (we have a lot of deers in this area) you can see the young leaves have been eaten. But they are still live. Three of them in less animal accessible area are almost double the size, the rest two are live but very small. The package and shipping were good.

I have my Osmanthus Fragrans in the house and i love it. The scent is wonderful!!!

Love the potential this tree has. I am happy to see several shoots but wish it would have been full of the white blooms - maybe next season.
Emily
I purchased three of these (osmanthus fragrans) as holiday gifts for my family members, all going to different households. They arrived just three days later. Each family member reported that the trees were in overall good shape when they arrived. I was very happy with the purchase experience and my family was happy too. I just wish these trees were more suited to my own climate.
Beverly
We have three or four of them. The do smell lovely.
