Sky Pencil Japanese Holly-- I have planted these close to my paver patio. Everyone that sees them has a lot of good comments to make about them. They're bright, cheery, and are beautiful at night with solar, spot lights on them. They are just so differant from anything that I've seen out there. I'm hoping they add a little privacy as they mature.

Sky Pencil Holly- I really like them, I ordered four to plant in front of our new fence, they all look great. I plan on ordering more later on, hope the rest of them make it, they look so good against the new fence.

I put these along a front fence separating a row-home. With 23ft. between the fence and the cement walkway. 25 feet down the fence. They have been in 8 years through severe heat, snow, ice and rain. They are flawless and have not been topped off. Even in limited space they absolutely will fit the bill and I could not be happier. My neighbor had scotch brooms but got gangly and branches would turn brown and were finally pulled and replaced with Sky Pencils as well.

Sky Pencil Holly- My wife and I planted two of these flanking our front step. Although they are beautiful now, we are looking forward to watching them get taller and fuller.

I planted three Sky Pencil Holly plants along the border of my property and they create a perfect natural fence. They have only been in the ground since Spring, but so far they are growing nicely.

I just planted 2 sky pencil hollies on the sides of my front steps. They have grown very fast vertically, but i am curious about how fast they get wide. I haven't seen any that are 2-3 ft wide, but I saw one at a friend's house that was maybe 1.5 feet wide and probably 7 ft tall. The wider one my friend has is so neat looking, I'm excited to see them grow both ways, hehe.

I planted 15 7gallon Sky Pencil hollies in June 2009 in a staggered linear design with full est sun exposure. Zone 8b. I watered regularly (about 5 months until winter set in. They have all done beautifully. Interestingly, about 5 of the 15 Sky Pencils were somewhat scraggly, but I bought them anyway because I needed the quantity and Lowes could not get any more of these particular hollies. I'm happy to report that the 5 scraggly plants filled out and all 15 pencils look the same. If you cultivate carefully and properly (composted acidic soil with reasonably good drainage, water regularly for the first season of growth, you will be rewarded with a uniform column of neat and tidy evergreen growth that will make an interesting vertical statement in your landscape design. They grow up to about 10 feet and quit. Great to shield o blank side of house/fence. Great as a backdrop.

I planted 7 Sky Pencil Hollies in early summer, along my front sidewalk, and liked them so much, ordered 12 more around front of house to eventually block front windows. (Live across street from public library). Have had other bushes and plants that either didn't survive or grew too big for the area. Was so impressed with shipment....arrived in POTS, very well packed. These plants survived our midwest drought this summer and were about the only things left that were still GREEN!! The grass even died out in many places. They are on North side...hoping they will survive winter here in Illinois. So glad to find a nice bush that only gets 2-3 ft. wide!!

I planted two sky pencil hollies last summer in large containers, and they did great. I am worried because as of now, (early April) there doesnt seem to be any new growth. The old leaves were brown and brittle, and I just pulled them off. Hopefully they are still wick, as I so enjoyed them. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I ordered 3 Sky Pencils and a Knockout Rose tree. They came very well packaged and in great condition. I planted them yesterday and today the Rose bush's leaves have perked up. I am very happy with the transaction, speed of delivery and quality of the trees. Can't wait for them to grow.

For a real show, use sky pencil holly as a backdrop for rudbeckia....I found the combination by accident, but the "school bus yellow&" of the rudbeckia next to the very deep green of the sky pencils is awesome!!
