White Dogwood Tree

One of the showiest flowering trees native to North America,
the White Dogwood is sheer perfection. This is a tree with
everything going for it, and with many seasonal surprises

In May, even before the leaves appear, beautiful white
blossoms unfurl from their eye-catching winter sheaths
to trumpet the arrival of spring. These flowers dazzle and
delight for several weeks, drawing inevitable ooh’s and aah’s.

If you think the splendor is over after spring, just wait until autumn when White Dogwood’s leaves put on another fiery show. Luscious green hues are exchanged for spectacular shades of burgundy, purple and deep crimson. This display is a leaf peeper’s fantasy.

When the leaves begin to drop, the White Dogwood isn’t through with it’s grand pageantry. Next, clusters of ruby-red berries pop against the smooth silver bark, offering songbirds and squirrels a favored food source during the cold winter months.

White Dogwoods are small trees, normally growing no taller than 20-30 feet. This makes is perfect to place in smaller gardens or in a tight spot near a patio or deck area.
