Red Bee Balm

Whorls of brilliant red blooms are long lasting and well suited to the mixed or herbaceous border as well as the herb garden…dead-heading old flowers will encourage a longer bloom time…also makes a lovely cut flower!
 
Red Monarda, or Red Bee Balm, is a magnet in the butterfly garden!  A clump forming perennial, Red Bee Balm spreads via underground trailers, so be prepared for fast growth!  A moist, well drained soil is where this Bee Balm is most vigorous.   
 
For a flaming hot combination try pairing the Red Monarda with the small, daisy like yellow blooms of Moonbeam Coreopsis!
