Bamboo Hedge Multiplex
Fast Growing, Thick Hedge
The new Hedge Bamboo (aka multiplex bamboo) is the perfect hedge plant. It's an extremely fast grower that gives you a quick, dense, uniform hedge.
You see more and more high-end neighborhoods using bamboo hedges these days. Its tropical feel will give your landscape that "classy" look.
This low-maintenance bamboo is a clumper, not a runner. This means it doesn't run wild all along your yard like other varieties do. It is well behaved and doesn't spread.
This bamboo variety is a thick plant. New branches start at the base and grow up, creating a dense hedge.
It is also one of the few bamboo varieties that branch out at the nodes. So, rather than a bunch of upright sticks, your bamboo grows into a dense wall that quickly blocks out noise and ugly sites.
If left untrimmed, your plants will get 20-30 feet tall. However, you can easily trim it to your desired height.
Multiplex bamboo is cold-hardy, too. It can withstand temperatures down to 12-15 degrees F. It grows strong, thick branches, so it easily tolerates frost and snow. It prefers growing zones 7-11.
The dense branches of the Multiplex Hedge Bamboo have smooth, silvery-gray leaves.
It is also attractive as an indoor plant. Just pot it up in a large container and place it near a sunny window. It's low-maintenance, too, so you won't have to constantly baby your bamboo plant.
You get a large, well-developed bamboo plant. It's already dense and thick... so when you plant it, you'll see an explosion of growth and a quick privacy screen.
