Thicker Fern Foliage Thrives in Shade and Coastal Breeze
The Holly Fern is unique among other fern varieties for its hardy strength and dense, rich foliage. This spreading, vase-shaped plant even thrives in shaded areas, rock gardens and darker, more secluded locales. Plus, it’s one of the few plants that survives well in salty air and saline water.
And the Holly Fern is thicker than your average fern. That means you can plant it as groundcover, border edging, or as a container-grown focal point on patios or indoors – no matter where it’s located, its unique texture is easy to maintain. Texture that’s defined by glossy, dark green fronds of holly-like growth that fit into any space. Even better? The Holly Fern is evergreen in milder winter regions and resists damage from rabbits.
But the best part is our Holly Fern’s head start. Long before it arrives to your door, we plant, grow and nurture our Holly Fern so that you get the best possible results in your garden. We’ve grown this variety under optimal conditions, with a well-developed root system, so it’s highly adaptable and versatile…ready to acclimate in your own landscape.
Imagine the promise of hardy, textural foliage and easy care, from indoors to out…and even in the shadiest areas. Get classic fern benefits with a twist…order our Holly Fern today!

Planting & Care
To plant your Holly Fern, dig a hole that’s deep enough to cover the plant’s root ball – it should also be about two times the root ball’s width. After placing your plant, tamp down the soil while backfilling to avoid air pocket. Then, water your plant to settle the soil that surrounds the roots.2. Watering: Water your Holly Fern deeply and regularly during the first full growing season for best results. To test when and how much to water your plant, check the top 2 to 3 inches of its surrounding soil – if it’s dry, it’s time to water. We recommend watering about once or twice weekly for best results.
3. Fertilizer: Feed with well-balanced fertilizer periodically during the growing season.
4. Pruning: Remove any older, faded fronds after new growth begins during spring.
Estimated Shipping Time: Most orders ship immediately, however some orders may ship in 1-2 business days (we do not ship on the weekends) from date of purchase.
