A Tropical Twist on Traditional Salsas
You may be familiar with traditional tomato salsa, but why not mix things up by adding mango and pineapple? Make your tropical salsas as tasty as possible and grow them yourself using our Salsa Kit!
Just add tomatoes, cilantro and lime to make delicious, tropical salsas with fruits grown in your own backyard. This kit includes:
- One 1-2 foot Glenn Mango Tree
- One 1-gallon Sugarloaf Pineapple Plant
The Glenn Mango Tree is a medium-to-large, orange-red mango tree that can fruit in its first growing year - a much shorter period than most other Mango trees. This versatile tree can be planted in a pot indoors or on your patio, where it will stay a compact 4-8 feet, or outdoors, where it can grow up to 20 feet tall.
Within two years of receiving your Sugarloaf Pineapple Plant, you'll be eating home-grown pineapples of your own. Like the Glenn Mango, the Sugarloaf Pineapple can be planted outdoors in warm climates or in a container that can be moved inside during the cold season. This plant is even more size efficient, reaching just 3-6 feet tall and wide.
With our Salsa Kit, you’ll be making tropical salsas with your own home-grown fruit in no time. Order now to get your salsas started!
Planting & Care
1. Planting: Both the Glenn Mango and Sugarloaf Pineapple can be planted outdoors or in containers. They thrive in full sun and warm, humid climates, but can withstand occasional cold snaps.
2. Watering: Water both plants regularly, checking the topsoil for dryness.
3. Fertilizer: The Glenn Mango thrives best with natural, organic fertilizer with mycorrhizal fungi and beneficial bacteria. Potted mangoes will benefit from a balanced fertilizer formula such as a 10-10-10 while actively growing. Sugarloaf Pineapples are excellent at taking up nutrition for their leaves, so they need very little fertilizer if any.
4. Pruning: Pruning the branches of the Glenn Mango tree right after the harvest will give you more mangoes by encouraging the growth of more lateral branches. Sugarloaf Pineapple Plants generally do not need to be pruned.
5. Pollination: Both the Glenn Mango and Sugarloaf Pineapple plants are self-fertile and self-pollinating, so they will produce fruit on their own.
