Compact Fruit Tree with Star Quality

With its bright yellow, elongated fruit that yields distinct star shapes when sliced, the Starfruit tree is a delight to have in your garden or patio space.

The Starfruit Tree grows best in warmer climates, but can be hardy down to 30 degrees Fahrenheit. It's also adaptable to most soils (although it prefers loamy, mildly acidic soils where possible).

The fruit it yields are sweet, with a faintly tart taste. It's an excellent and unique addition to fruit plates, baked goods, snacks and more. You can even pack some Starfruit slices in your kids lunches for a fun treat!

The Starfruit Tree is simply one of those distinct and delightful trees that is not to be missed. Besides its bright yellow fruit-bearing capabilities, it also has a lush and tropical appearance, producing pink and lavender flowers when it's not bearing fruit.

Fast-growing, this tree can be planted in a container pot for your patio area or in a sunny, open area where it will be sheltered from the wind. It will keep you captivated all year long with its delicious, tangy fruit and one-of-a-kind appearance. Get one of your own today!

Planting & Care

Planting: Plant your Starfruit Tree in an area with full sun (at least 6-8 hrs of sun daily). Choose a spot relatively sheltered from wind.

Adaptable to most soils, your Starfruit Tree will do well in most types. However, be sure the soil is well draining and, if possible, use a mildly acidic (pH of 5.5-6.5) rich loam soil.

Your Starfruit Tree can be planted into a container pot or directly into the ground. If planting into the ground, give about an inch of root flare above the soil you pack in underneath it. (Root flare is the area from the top of the roots to where the trunk begins.)

Watering: Water generously once planted and then thereafter only when the top 2-3 inches of soil are dried out. Yellow, wilting leaves can indicate overwatering.

Fertilizer: You can fertilize with a well balanced fertilizer monthly from spring through fall (use a 10-10-10 or 12-12-12 formula).

Pollination: While Starfruit Trees are self-fertile, you can assist pollination by taking a small paintbrush and swirling it around the delicate lavender bloom. Repeat at the next bloom until you have done so for all blooms. The bloom will fall off and fruit will form.

Pruning: Prune in late winter and once a year or every two years.
