Product Description

Easy-Growing Shade and Classic Looks

With our American Elm Tree, you’ll have a piece of history. And you’ll have graceful shade and all-American looks without issue since this our Elm is a disease-resistant variety.

Even better? It grows nearly anywhere. From the humid, hot landscapes of the South to cold Northern areas, the American Elm Tree thrives. Just plant it and watch the growth take off – this Elm grows quickly in nearly any type of soil and conditions. And with very little attention and care, your American Elm will grow 3 to 6 feet each year, whether you live in an urban neighborhood or in the pristine countryside.

Best of all, our American Elm is one you’ll enjoy for generations. Because the Elm is already long-lived (and ours arrives with the benefit of disease resistance), you’ll have an enduring variety that thrives year after year. Its grand, tall trunk and stunning fountain of leaves in a rounded canopy are easy to grow, especially since we’ve meticulously nurtured our Elms from day one, right here at our nursery.

And because it's the perfect tree for neighborhoods everywhere, it sells quickly. Bring back a piece of American history to your yard – get your own American Elm Tree today!

Planting & Care

1. Planting: You can plant the American Elm at any time of the year, but they are best planted between early spring and late fall. For best results, choose an area with well-drained soil and full sun (6 to 8 hours of sunlight per day). Once you’ve selected your location, dig a hole that’s about 2 or 3 times the width of the tree’s root ball. Then, place your tree, back fill the soil and water to settle the roots. Finally, add 2 to 3 inches of mulch around the base of the tree to preserve moisture.

2. Watering: You can water your tree every week during its young life. If it rains, you don't need to water your American Elm at all. After a couple years, you only need to water the tree during very dry spells. But if you’re not sure when to water, check the surrounding soil about 3 inches down. If the soil is excessively dry here, it’s time to water.

3. Fertilizing: After the first year, add a balanced fertilizer to the soil every spring. Be sure to follow the label instructions carefully. As your tree ages, fertilizing is unnecessary.

4. Pruning: You don't need to prune your American Elm Tree, but it can be helpful to remove dead bark and branches in the fall.
