This plant may not thrive in your area
Eye-catching gray-green foliage and arching, graceful branches set the large, pyramidal Deodar Cedar Tree apart. This conifer is known for its evergreen good looks and unique silhouette, as well as its fast, easy growth.
The Deodar Cedar is quickly-growing but virtually maintenance-free. Give your Deodar plenty of room to grow and watch it take off...it delivers summertime shade during the warmer months and festive holiday looks in winter, thriving throughout the year since it's adaptable and drought tolerant.
Another benefit is that it produces an aromatic oil that naturally deters insects, ensuring the surrounding area is free from pests. So, the Deodar's fast, carefree growth is perfect for natural windbreaks, easy privacy screens and beyond. And because it grows quickly, it will need less sunlight as it matures and reaches closer to the sun...making it extra versatile when it comes to where you plant.
But the best benefit of your Deodar Cedar? It’s a proven performer. We've selected the top specimen amongst Cedars, so your Deodar has been planted and grown with care, and then shipped to your door with its roots intact. Now, it's ready to grow and thrive in your landscape effortlessly.
No green thumb is needed to claim the Deodar Cedar for yourself. Get the year-round benefits and beauty of the Deodar today!
1. Planting: Plant your Deodar Cedar in the spring after your ground has thawed, or in the fall before your first frost. The Deodar prefers full sun (6 to 8 hours per day) and well-drained soil.
Dig a hole for your Deodar that's 2 to 3 times the width of the root ball and of equal depth. Remove your Cedar from its growing pot and place tree in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is even with the ground. Adjust your tree’s position so that it is sitting straight and begin to backfill the hole, tamping down lightly as you go.
Once the hole has been completely covered, water your tree deeply to settle the soil and help fill any air pockets. Mulch around the base of your tree to help conserve moisture in the soil.
2. Watering: These trees are drought resistant and once established, will be fine with occasional rainfall. If you are experiencing times of extreme heat and drought, provide some extra water for your trees once or twice weekly.
3. Pruning: Simply remove any dead or broken branches.
