1. Planting Instructions: Pollinated by honey bees, pet safe (as long as your pets don’t eat it), and relatively fast-growing, gaining 24 to 30 inches in one growing season: Your Lavender Standard is tough but needs proper care to truly thrive.
So, start by selecting a location with full sun (at least 6 hours of sun per day) and well-drained soil. After you’ve chosen your Lavender’s location, dig a hole that’s at least two or three times wider than your plant’s root ball. Once you’ve placed it, back fill the remaining soil, tamp down to avoid air pockets and lastly, water to help establish its roots.
Other than proper planting and watering, though, your Lavender Standard doesn’t need much. You may prune its silhouette lightly to shape, but otherwise, your Lavender’s prepared to thrive.
2. Watering: Water your Lavender Standard as the weather dictates – and allow any water to drain so that your Lavender’s roots do not become oversaturated. As long as its soil is well-drained (but not overdry), your Lavender Standard acclimates perfectly.
If you’re not sure when to water your plant, however, simply check its surrounding soil, down to around 2 or 3 inches. If you feel that the soil is dry after checking, it’s time to water to moistness but not oversaturation.
