A Vibrant Display of Changing Color Throughout the Year
If you've ever wished for autumnal colors throughout the year, perhaps you’ve been dreaming about the Wildfire Black Gum Tree. In contrast to most trees, this variety sprouts pinkish-red leaves in spring that mature to light green in summertime. The tree’s fall display is even more eye-catching, producing orange, maroon, and purple foliage.
Because of this variation, the Wildfire Black Gum Tree makes a spectacular choice as a focal point in any yard. And this tree becomes quite large, reaching heights of 40 to 60 feet, meaning it can double as a shade tree!
Another feature of the Wildfire Black Gum Tree that sets it apart from similarly large trees is its manageable root system. Although the tree can live up to 70 years, its roots will never grow large enough to disrupt your sidewalk, driveway, or other plants.
When you’re looking for a hardy plant, the Wildfire Black Gum Tree will fit the bill. Adaptable enough to be grown outdoors in almost any region of the United States, this tree can withstand whatever your climate throws at it.
The best part? BrighterBlooms nourishes every Wildfire Black Gum Tree with loving care in our nursery. So by the time the tree arrives at your doorstep, it will already have a well-developed root system that helps it grow more fast and strong.

Planting & Care
When planting your Wildfire Black Gum Tree, find a place in your yard that receives full sun, yet has well-draining soil. Next, dig a hole twice as wide and as deep as your root ball. Place your tree in the hole, keeping the trunk straight. Backfill your hole, tamping down the soil to remove air pockets as you go. Water the roots and mulch around the tree, being sure not to mulch directly onto the trunk.
As the tree is getting established, water it twice a week. After that, you only need to water it if your area becomes overly hot and dry.
You only need to fertilize if you want your tree to grow faster and taller. In that case, add a balanced fertilizer to the soil in early spring if desired.
You can prune your tree in the winter if you like. Removing the lower branches will make it easier to stand under the tree for shade in the summer.
