Planting & Care
1. Planting: First, choose an area with full sun and well-drained soil for your Sugarloaf Pineapple. Around 6 to 8 hours of sun per day is best.
To plant your Pineapple, dig a hole deep enough to cover its root ball. After placing your plant, backfill the soil, tamping down as you go to avoid any air pockets. Water your Pineapple to settle the soil that surrounds the roots.
If you’re planting in a container, select one that’s approximately two times the width of the root ball. From there, the planting instructions are the same – and after you’ve planted, place your potted Pineapple Plant in front of a sunny window or in a sunny spot on your patio.
2. Watering: Water regularly during the first full growing season. To test when and how much to water, simply check the top 2 to 3 inches of soil – if it’s dry, it’s time to water until it’s moist but not oversaturated.
3. Fertilizing: Generally, Pineapples take up nutrition through their leaves, so very little fertilizer, if any, is necessary. If you do fertilize, use liquid solutions like seaweed extract or fish emulsion.
4. Pollination: Sugarloaf Pineapples are self-pollinating, so you'll get fruit with just one plant. However, you can increase your pollinator power and your fruit yield by adding another Pineapple!
