Princeton Sentry™ Columnar Ginkgo Ginkgo biloba 'Princeton Sentry'
Product Description
Gorgeous Foliage + Ideal for Small Landscapes
Ideal for those looking for a classic shade tree but limited on landscape space, the Princeton Sentry™ Columnar Ginkgo is the perfect combination of the effortless durability and longevity of a classic Ginko and a modern, upright form.
With its captivating, golden-yellow foliage displayed in the fall, the Princeton Sentry™ Columnar Ginkgo delivers an exceptionally high dose of color. In other seasons, the Princeton sports lovely green, fan-shaped leaves.
And although the Princeton is a slow grower, it can reach heights of 30 feet with a width 15 feet. Due to its upright, narrow, and columnar growth pattern, it acclimates well to tight spaces and is ideal for use in urban landscapes.
The Princeton is almost completely pest and disease-free, making it a “set it and forget it” low-maintenance plant. It's even drought resistant once established and tolerates poor soil conditions, so there's no guesswork in whether or not the Princeton will grow in your climate. It can tolerate temperatures as low as -40° Fahrenheit!
Grab your Princeton Sentry™ Columnar Ginkgo today and make your space more impressive with this compact showstopper!
Planting & Care
Planting: When it’s time to plant your Princeton Sentry™ Columnar Ginkgo, choose an area with at least 4 to 6 hours of sunlight per day and well-drained soil. Dig a hole that’s at least two to three times wider than your Ginkgo’s root ball. After placing your tree inside the hole, backfill its soil, tamp down to avoid air pockets, and water to help establish its roots.
Watering: Although it is moderately drought tolerant, your Princeton Sentry™ Columnar Ginkgo Tree needs regular watering during the first few growing seasons for establishment. Typically, you should water your tree thoroughly about once a week. If you’re not sure when to water, simply check the surrounding soil down to around 2 or 3 inches. If the soil is dry, it’s time to water.
Pruning: Excessive pruning is not needed, but we recommend removing dead or damaged branches. Pruning should also be completed during the winter season or during dormancy.
